PropMine
Over/under totals research

A total is a scoring threshold shaped by the entire game environment.

PropMine connects an over/under line to team scoring and prevention, pace or tempo, expected personnel, matchup, venue, weather, recent and longer samples, and supported model context.

CoverageTotals context differs by sport. DMND9 provides dedicated MLB totals research; Today's Games and connected labs provide supported game and team context elsewhere.

What this research workflow includes

Current total

Confirm the exact full-game or segment threshold, sportsbook, price, and timestamp before comparing historical scoring results.

O/U records

Inspect the totals and games behind each over/under record instead of applying one percentage across materially different thresholds.

Pace and opportunity

Use possessions, play volume, transition, tempo, shot or scoring opportunity, and other sport-specific drivers of how many chances a game creates.

Offense and defense

Evaluate how both teams create and prevent scoring, including the matchup between strengths, weaknesses, styles, and expected personnel.

Venue and weather

Account for park, stadium, roof, surface, altitude, wind, temperature, precipitation, and other supported environmental effects.

Lineup and starting personnel

Recheck expected starters, quarterbacks, pitchers, goalies, rotations, injuries, and late status changes that can alter scoring assumptions.

What an over/under line represents

A game total sets a combined scoring threshold for the applicable period or full event. The over succeeds when combined scoring finishes above that line; the under succeeds below it, subject to the market's settlement rules. The number reflects expectations about both teams and the environment in which they will play.

Historical O/U records describe outcomes against the totals available in those games. They do not mean a team independently creates overs or unders at every future number. A 44.5 total and a 57.5 total ask different questions even if the same teams, venue, or recent scoring averages are involved.

Build the scoring environment

Start with offensive creation and defensive prevention, then add pace, possessions or play volume, expected efficiency, starting personnel, depth, rest, travel, venue, and weather. The correct inputs differ by sport. Wind can matter differently from temperature, and lineup or goalie changes can outweigh a broad season average.

Separate full-game totals from first-half, first-five, team-total, or other segment markets. Those markets use different time horizons and can depend on different personnel. PropMine's game and specialty pages help route the question to the evidence that matches the selected market rather than treating every total as interchangeable.

How PropMine supports totals research

Today's Games connects active totals to team records, over/under history, matchup context, venue, weather, stadium type, and selectable events. Team and Matchup Labs add form, opponent comparisons, personnel, and sport-specific evidence. Supported outlier highlights help users locate unusual O/U categories without labeling them as guaranteed plays.

For baseball, DMND9 provides dedicated totals research alongside moneyline and run-line context. Ballpark & Weather, probable-starter, bullpen, umpire or ABS, NRFI, and simulation surfaces answer narrower questions when supported. A model total is an estimate and remains distinct from the posted sportsbook total.

A repeatable totals workflow

Confirm whether the market is full game, a segment, or a team total, and record the current threshold and price. Compare recent and longer scoring samples at comparable lines. Check expected personnel, pace or opportunity, matchup, venue, and conditions. Identify what would make the game play faster, slower, more efficient, or less efficient than expected.

Then build the under case as seriously as the over case, or vice versa. Visible scoring trends can already be incorporated into the number. Recheck the market after meaningful news and avoid treating an old total as today's question. PropMine provides context; it cannot guarantee the scoring result.

A repeatable research process

Find the market

Start with a verified current line or prop family. Keep sportsbook prices, pick’em lines, model output, and historical statistics clearly labeled.

Inspect the evidence

Review the player, role, matchup, team, game, and sport-specific variables behind the summarized rate. Check the time window and sample size.

Make the decision

Use the evidence to decide whether the line deserves attention. PropMine supports the process; it does not guarantee the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is an over/under total?

It is a market threshold for combined scoring in the applicable game or segment. Settlement depends on whether the final combined score finishes above, below, or exactly on the line.

Are O/U records enough to research a total?

No. Inspect the actual totals, games, opponents, personnel, pace, venue, weather, and current threshold behind the record.

Does PropMine include weather and stadium context?

Yes, where relevant and verified. Supported game pages can include weather, roof or stadium type, park, surface, and related environmental evidence.

Does DMND9 research MLB totals?

Yes. DMND9 is PropMine's MLB game prediction and research surface for moneylines, run lines, and totals.

Are model totals sportsbook lines?

No. Model output is an estimate. PropMine keeps it distinct from a posted sportsbook market and from historical results.

PropMine is independent research and decision-support software. It is not a sportsbook, does not accept wagers, and does not guarantee outcomes. Historical results do not guarantee future performance.
